"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Festive Fun for Four NHEHS Charities

We might be nearing the end of term but we have a couple of action-packed weeks of charities initiatives lined up for four of our charities!

Age UK Christmas Cheer

Our Year 8s, as well as Year 12s and 13s introduced some festive merriment to the Age UK Day Centre in Greenford when they visited earlier this week with users of the centre joining our students in both song and dance! Next week, Year 10 as well as sixth form will be wrapping gifts for Hampers that will be distributed to the centre. Thank you also to everyone who donated to the food collection which was distributed earlier in the week.

And this week Year 7 and 8 have been busy making Christmas cards during form time which will be distributed to Age UK users as well as our local care homes where our volunteering students spend their Tuesday afternoons singing with the care home users or joining them in festive craft activities.

Year 10 Fundraising for Crisis

Our Year 10 Charity Reps have been working very hard on their initiatives to raise money for Crisis. With three more events to go, they have already raised a little over £400 to support crisis. Forthcoming events they have planned include: a candy cane delivery (6th); they have a Christmas Fair coming up (this Friday, 2nd); they have a lunch movie event (8th) and they have their last bake sale on the 9th.

Charity Reps Years 7-11 Christmas Breakfast

The Charity reps are at the frontline of the students’ initiatives: they are the planners, the managers and the leaders leading their year group throughout the month. For this reason, we thought it was important to acknowledge their efforts and reward their kindness with kindness. Although Years 10 and 11 couldn’t attend, it was lovely to see Years 7, 8 and 9 enjoy a well-deserved fun and relaxing morning complemented by some tasty pastries.

Mencap Fair

Users of the Mencap service will be joining us next Tuesday for a creative afternoon. Our Year 10 students will have the opportunity to engage with users of the centre over a selection of craft based activities.

The Log Cabin

Two NHEHS Christmas cards (pictured) designed by our students have gone on sale to support the wonderful work of the Log Cabin. You can buy your cards on Parent Pay.

The charity team will also be fundraising for the Log Cabin at the Parents Guild fair this Saturday where along with our cards for the charity, they will also be running a Lucky Dip and Games.
