A Modern Take on Rossini’s Cinderella Captivates Our GCSE and A Level Musicians

On 7 October, GCSE and A Level music students and music scholars were given the opportunity to attend English National Opera’s production of ‘La Cenerentola’ (Cinderella) by Rossini. It was a fantastic production sung in English with hilarious modern-day turns of phrases used in the translation, which made the opera feel as fresh and entertaining as it would have done to 19th Century Italian audiences.
The students loved hearing the phenomenal voices of ENO’s cast, and some preconceived ideas about opera being inaccessible and stuffy were rightly quashed!
