Academic Scholars Symposium at Blackheath High: AI and the Future of Humanity
Nine of our students from Year 9 and 10 recently attended an Academic Scholars’ Symposium at Blackheath High School. Inspired by the pioneering legacy of inventor Hedy Lamarr, the day explored the evolution of technology and its impact on our world.
The event featured a keynote talk from Sofia Gkiousou, a public policy expert with experience at Google and Airbnb, who discussed how AI can be used safely and responsibly. Students then moved into interdisciplinary workshops, tackling the ethics of AI, its role in sustainability and its influence on music and business.
The day concluded with student presentations, where groups shared insights on the pros and cons of AI in various careers. It was a thought-provoking experience that encouraged our students to consider how they might help shape the digital future.
Thank you to Blackheath for hosting an excellent symposium!
