Annual GDST Classics Conference at Northwood College
On 30th January 2026, the Sixth Form Classicists travelled to Northwood College for the annual GDST Classics Conference.
The day featured a range of talks and workshops to enrich and expand our understanding of the Classical world, from exploring the inspiration of ancient epic poets Homer and Virgil on Milton’s Paradise Lost to an analysis of Classics in Film by the extraordinary Professor Maria Wyke, a frequent contributor to the BBC In Our Time podcast. We also had the opportunity to decode manuscripts and explore objects from the British Museum. Mrs Goodall also gave a talk linked to her upcoming commentary for Bloomsbury, on the second half of Virgil’s Aeneid. She is very excited to start teaching the Aeneid to her Year 10 Latin class this term for their first exposure to this amazing poem!
Thank you to the Classics Department and students at Northwood College for putting on such an inspiring day for us!
