Back where it all began: Charlotte from The Traitors returns to NHEHS!

We had a real treat at NHEHS earlier this week as we welcomed back alumna, Charlotte Berman (Class of 2009), to talk in assembly all about her experience of being a contestant on the most recent series, Series 3, of The Traitors on BBC1!

Charlotte’s visit was kept as a surprise from the girls, despite various clues being dotted around the school in the days leading up to her assembly. A buzz of excitement filled the hall as the Traitors theme tune started playing and the pupils realised who was sitting among them!

Charlotte explained why she adopted a fake Welsh accent in a bid to bolster her trustworthiness among fellow players but she also admitted that it was very hard to keep up the pretence for over three weeks! We were fascinated to hear that she was actually selected to be a contestant by producers of the series after she sent in her audition tape talking in a Welsh accent, having been unsuccessful the previous year with her audition tape talking in her normal, received pronunciation (RP) accent. Since the series ended, she told us that producers of series 4  are receiving a record number of audition tapes from potential contestants in different regional accents, following Charlotte’s lead!

Thank you so much Charlotte. It was lovely to see you and really interesting to hear all the behind the scenes gossip from The Traitors!
