Brutalism and Beauty: Year 9 Find Fashion Show Inspiration at the Barbican
By Neha A and Amelia F, Year 9
On Tuesday 13th January, the Year 9 art classes had an opportunity to visit the famous Barbican in London. The purpose of the trip was to prepare and inspire us for the highly anticipated fashion show at the end of March. We took much inspiration from the architecture of the famous building, incorporating the various colours and textures into our designs.
One of the many highlights of the trip was exploring the fashion exhibit, “Dirty Looks.” Dirty Looks explores the many ways in which fashion has embraced the ‘dirty’ aesthetics from various perspectives. We enjoyed the diverse interpretations and incredibly beautiful outfits, entranced by all the patterns and colours.
Thank you to the art department and all the teachers involved in this remarkable trip – we really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to work on the fashion show!
