Celia Higson Art History Abroad Lecture
By Juno C, Year 12
Art History Abroad‘s Celia Higson visited us on 23rd January to deliver a lecture entitled ‘How controversial was it, really? The age of breaking boundaries in early 20th century art’ to our Year 12 and 13 History of Art students.
I really enjoyed having Ms Higson come deliver a brilliant talk about how art has progressed and how our understanding of the word ‘controversial’ has changed over time. Ms Higson gave great examples and thoughtful insight. From the talk I found that I was able to put into perspective how art was perceived by people of the time as far back to the 1800s. My favourite part was probably the Dada section as I have an affinity for Duchamp’s work myself.
