Year 7’s Charity: Alzheimer’s Society

This half term Year 7 will be fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society. The year group have already held one bakesale, which included delicious homemade cakes and cookies. They also delivered some mystery gift bags to students across school. The funfair on Tuesday proved very popular with both staff and students, with cake and sweets for sale, a mini basketball game and especially the water balloon bombing of six brave teachers! Next week there will also be another fair in the courtyard with more fun and activities such as duck hunting and spin the wheel. The year 7 charity season will be ended by a second bakesale the first week after half-term.

Volunteering

Alongside our regular visits to our local care homes and work in the parks, Year 10s have visited North Ealing  Primary School to listen to children read and will be visiting the Salvation Army next week to help sort clothes for their baby bank. Year 10 are also going to begin planning the Log Cabin party shortly as part of their volunteering afternoon which will be held in June after their exams.

A group of volunteers visited Care4Calais earlier this week. The children were very grateful for the eggs they received at Easter and enjoyed our usual craft, games and party games.

Coming up:

We will once again be joining forces with other GDST schools on Monday 18th May to raise money for the Just One Tree charity. In recognition of a donation, students are encouraged to dress in their interpretation of green clothing, including items that are sustainably sourced, second-hand clothing, clothing purchased from a charity store or by simply wearing something green.
