Class of 2025 Drinks Reception
On May 7th our Year 13 pupils and parents gathered to say goodbye and launch our Class of 2025 Bursary Appeal.
We heard from Mrs Saunders about the importance of our Bursary programme and thanked the school community for supporting our vision to offer more bursaries for talented and academically gifted girls without the means, the opportunity of an NHEHS education.
Noor Ahmed shared her heartfelt story about the opportunities an NHEHS education has offered her: “Being born into an immigrant household to two disabled parents with no income meant that a private education was far out of reach. To support myself I started working when I turned 15. After completing my 11+ I got into a few private schools but none of them were willing to cover my tuition costs, so I couldn’t take their offers. I then applied to NHEHS and was so happy to be accepted. The education I received looked very different; class sizes were tiny, teachers would know their students’ interests and names. Suddenly passing wasn’t the aim but getting students to the top grades and the top universities was.
“I was in a completely different arena: one I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to see if it wasn’t for the bursary fund. Now I am proud to say that I am the first generation of my family attending further education in the UK. Without individual donations, I wouldn’t have come to this school, and wouldn’t have ended up where I am now. You, your parents and guardians have the power to make this education accessible to students who otherwise may not have the privilege. I urge you to donate.”
Finally, the evening was rounded off by Dr Pearce who shared memories and words of advice. Good luck Class of 2025!
