Ealing Cross Country Relays Champions for 10th Consecutive Year!
By Natasha B, Year 13
On 19th March, a team of Year 7-13s went to Perivale to compete at the annual Ealing Team Relay Championships. Unlike most cross country events which are based on individual performance, this competition involves all years participating in a relay with each year group (Years 7,8,9,10 and then 11-13 as a senior category) each completing a relay leg of 1500m before passing on to the next person.
This year we had four teams of 20 athletes representing NHEHS and we were thrilled that our A team, made up of Maya R (Year 7), Flora B (Year 8), Maria S (Year 9), Sofia B (Year 10) and Natasha B (Year 13), managed to retain our title for the 10th consecutive year! Our B, C and D teams also performed exceptionally! Each runner in the NHEHS A team also finished with the fastest lap times for their respective age groups.
One of my favourite thing about this event is the support all year groups show for each other as each runner runs their individual leg of the race. This team spirit has made this event one of my best sporting memories over my years at NHEHS (as this year was myself, Emma S and Isabella P’s final year after having competed in this event every year since Year 7 back in 2020!). I am so delighted that I have ended my cross country racing with the school on a high and it has been a great privilege to have been part of such an amazing team over the years!
