Farewell and Good Luck to our Fabulous Year 13s at Leavers’ Ceremony
Last Thursday we welcomed our Year 13s back to NHEHS for a joyful evening of celebration, reflection and friendship at this year’s Leavers’ Ceremony. They were joined by senior school staff, proud parents and family members who all gathered to celebrate the Class of 2025 and wish them every success for their exciting journeys ahead.
Once the staff and students had taken their seats, Dr Pearce, Head of Sixth Form welcomed everyone. NHEHS Head, Mrs Saunders, then began the evening with words of encouragement and parting advice, looking ahead to the bright futures that await. Our Head Girl, Nanthana, also gave a touching thank you on behalf of the year group, expressing her gratitude to teachers, parents and peers for their support throughout their NHEHS journey.
Each student was then presented with her Leavers’ Certificate, with prizes awarded to recipients in recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution.
Our guest speaker, actress and former GDST pupil, Olivia Williams was finally welcomed to the stage and she delivered a powerful and memorable speech to the students about the importance of finding both their passion as well as the things that bring them joy. She encouraged them to be defined by ‘yes,’ rather than negativity, to take advantage of the opportunities that come their way, rather than standing on the sidelines, and to choose interaction over isolation. She left us with truly inspiring words at the end of her speech, “Find the things you love about every day of your life and the reward for that will carry you beyond school and university through unemployment and heartbreak into a life that you relish.”
We’ll miss you Year 13 and we look forward to welcoming you back as NHEHS alumnae!
