GDST Health and Wellbeing Day for Sport Scholars at Sutton High School

By Emilia and Neena, Year 7 Sport Scholars

On Friday 13th February Sports Scholars from NHEHS visited the Health and Wellbeing GDST day at Sutton High School. It first started with an opening speech from all the teachers who ran the workshops, each of them explaining their careers, work, challenges they had faced and the sessions they were going to run for us. The teacher we found most inspiring was Jess Silva as she has a job on television but still manages to find time for yoga. There were many different workshops we could choose from ranging from Sound Healing to Tai Chi to Cacao Ceremony. This variety of different workshops helped us to relax and reconnect with our body.

Some of the most popular workshops we did were the Cacao Ceremony and Sound Healing. The Cacao Ceremony was especially exciting as we got to drink homemade cacao hot chocolate which was extremely delicious. Sound Healing was where we got to lie down and listen to different sounds such as a gong to help us relax.

It ended with a Q&A where the teachers all answered questions about their lives which was really interesting to listen to.

Overall, it was a really fun experience to go to and we all enjoyed it.
