Year 7 bonding day

Winners at GDST Languages Festival 2026

By Mr Piesse

On Friday 25th September, a team of linguists and classicists travelled to Sutton High GDST to participate in the GDST Languages Festival. With great élan, they flexed their memorisation, critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills in a series of engaging tasks that included a multilingual ice breaker, escape rooms, cultural quizzes, spelling bees, poetry recitation, board game creation. We are delighted to announce that out of six other schools, we were crowned ‘runner up’ school.

We also won the following categories:

*Y9 Poetry (Spanish) / Marissa McCarron Overall Spanish Poetry winner

*Y9 Escape Room (French)

*Y9 Escape Room (Mandarin)

*Classics Mastermind

In conclusion, it was an uplifting celebration of the unique value of languages and Classics in the modern world and we thank Sutton High for organising this year’s festival with such bonhomie.
