"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS Healthcare Conference 2026

By Meher G and Aditi, Year 12

On Thursday 14th May, NHEHS hosted their annual Healthcare conference, bringing together an inspiring community of healthcare professionals, researchers, and students from partnering and local schools, all connected by a shared interest in medicine and healthcare. Among our speakers we had experienced specialists who have dedicated their careers to advancing the field; we heard from doctors and surgeons of neurology and trauma, (one of which offered a suturing workshop for our students to take part in) dentists, nursing home owners and more. We were also grateful to not only hear about these specialist careers in their fields but also for the advice given by them on how to get into the medical world. We heard tips for interviews, personal statements, work experience and UCAT preparation, all of which students found very helpful.

Some of the students also had the opportunity to do presentations in collaboration with some of the other schools in attendance. These were on a wide range of topics, including neuroscience, cardiology and emergency medicine. It was a great experience to be able to work with people from other schools, and it was really interesting to see the different approaches each group took to their topic.

We were very grateful for all the students and professionals who came along to make this conference such a great experience and a success. Thank you to Mrs Bowness for organising this event!
