Heather Wins Arkwright Engineering Scholarship

By Mr Futter, Head of Design Technology

We are delighted to announce that Heather M has been awarded an Arkwright Scholarship for 2022. The Arkwright Scholarship programme was established to help students pursue their dreams and change the world as future leaders in engineering. The rigorous application process consists of an application form, evidence of a problem-solving project, a written aptitude exam and an interview with a panel of judges from areas of engineering.

Winning her Arkwright Scholarship, Heather will be awarded a prize fund to spend towards her studies. She will also receive mentoring and guidance from a sponsor with links to professional engineering to help her reach her aspirations of becoming an engineer. The school is also awarded a prize to support future students discover a passion for STEM subjects.

Asked about what career path she might take, Heather said, “I am being sponsored by Harper Adams University which specialises in providing higher education for the agricultural and rural sector. I am initially planning to spend some of the prize fund on CGP books for my A-Level subject as well as a stylus for my computer and then look for other items, books or experiences that might support my interest in science and engineering. I am still unsure what career I want to pursue in the future, but I am particularly interested in robotic engineering as it combines my passions for mechanics and programming.”

Well done Heather!!
