‘Intouchables’ A Level French Film Masterclass

By Mr Piesse, French teacher

On Tuesday, Prof. Harrod, Professor of French at Warwick University, led a masterclass on the French comic tour de force and A level set film Intouchables.

As well as setting the film within the context of the French film industry, other comedies of social and racial integration and ‘buddy’ films, she provided fascinating insights into the role and function of comedy, the dynamics of masculinities and the treatment of stereotypes, before concluding with a reflection on cinematographic techniques used in the film.

Judging by the astute questions which followed, the girls who attended really engaged with this most thought-provoking yet accessible session.  Un grand merci to Prof. Harrod for sharing her time and expertise so generously!
