Italian Cooking at Harrow School
By Mr Guarniero, Italian Teacher
On Wednesday 27th September, during our NHEHS Week of Languages, some of our Sixth Form Italian students along with a few other linguists visited Harrow School and attended a cooking lesson on risotto.
The class was very much a sort of cooking competition between the pupils of the two different schools, although MasterChef judges were not invited!
NHEHS students cooked a wonderful dish using fresh pumpkin, asparagus, parmesan and saffron, while Harrow School’s pupils preferred to make a sausage and taleggio cheese risotto.
In the end, both groups tasted the two dishes and guess which was voted the best?
Most of the attendees agreed that NHEHS risottos tasted better and was better plated… but some of the Harrow students did not want to admit defeat at all.
The important thing is that everyone had fun, some learned new words related to Italian cuisine, and no one went home hungry!
What shall we cook next?
