Junior and Senior Teams Finish Runners Up at National GDST Athletics Rally in Derby

On Sunday the 7th of June the Junior School and Senior School teams (35 in total) set off for the 2026 GDST athletics rally, in Derby. Despite a lot of singing (from the juniors!), we had an enjoyable journey. We stopped once along the way for a brief break at a service station before continuing to the Holiday Inn. We arrived and headed off to find our rooms before returning for dinner and then settling into our rooms for the night.
The next day we had a buffet style breakfast and then left for the track at 8:30am. We arrived at the track, found our spot and then got ready for the team photos. The competition involved competing against 14 other GDST schools from across the country.
The teams did outstandingly, with the Juniors making six finals and four top three finishers in their events, and the seniors making 11 finals, with 12 top three finishers. Overall, the Juniors finished 3rd and the Seniors finished 2nd with an excellent combined place of 2nd overall.
This was a fantastic event, and we all had lots of fun competing, as well as supporting and encouraging each other.
