"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Junior Choir Club Sing at local Memory Cafe

It was an honour for our Junior Year 3 and 4 Choir Club to be invited back to sing at Memory Cafe for members of the local community who suffer from some form of memory loss, including dementia and Alzheimer’s. The group, with their carers, gather together on Thursdays at St Barnabas Church in Pitshanger Lane for memory games, music and song, along with a cup of tea and piece of cake.

For this occasion, we prepared traditional songs of childhood for the audience to sing along with. Timeless classics such as You are My Sunshine, Oh When the Saints, Loch Lomond and Skye Boat Song sung by the Juniors brought smiles to everyone present and reminded us that music is best when it’s shared with a wonderful community.

Mother Valerie Aikten said: “It was hard to hold back the tears at St Barnabas Memory Cafe as we watched our guests remembering the words of favourite songs sung by the Junior Choir of Notting Hill and Ealing, conducted by Ignasis Sole. Scottish Annie especially loved Loch Lomond and Skye Boat Song, while Diana commented: ‘These were the songs I grew up with,’ and Ian jokingly wanted to join the choir! A really special time.”

We cannot wait to bring our Year 5 and Year 6 Pop Choir in May, to perform major hits from the Beatles, Elton John and more!
