"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Junior School Building Wins City Kids Green School Building Award

Designed with sustainability at its core, our carbon-neutral Junior School sets a new standard for eco-friendly education environments. And this has just been recognised at the City Kids Green Awards where we won the gold medal for the ‘Green School Building’ award.

With no gas usage onsite and solar panels already lowering electricity consumption, our Junior School demonstrates true operational sustainability. Its sustainable wooden frame is complemented by south-facing photovoltaic panels on the saw-tooth roof to maximise solar energy capture, while north-facing rooflights provide daylight without excess heat gain. It also has air source heat pumps, a heat recovery ventilation system, and noise-reducing woodwool insulation.

The judges said:

“Notting Hill and Ealing High School’s carbon-neutral Junior School is a groundbreaking example of sustainable architecture integrated with education. The school has created an inspiring, truly eco-friendly learning environment that physically embodies the impact of sustainability.” Victoria Evans

“This remarkable environmentally friendly school building and grounds are a perfect example of living the legacy you want to leave – the ripple effects on the students, staff, visitors and environment will have long lasting effects for decades to come. Well done!”  -Anita Worlidge

Thanks to our incredible team  – Hawkins\Brown, GDST and NHEHS staff for making this award possible!
