"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Launch of New School Partnership with Colegio Guadalaviar, Valencia

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with a Spanish School in Valencia!

Our Year 8 Spanish students have written letters to a  group of students in 1º ESO (first year of Secondary Education in Spain) at Colegio Guadalaviar, a girls’ school in Valencia, which they were thrilled to receive last week. Students both here at NHEHS and in Spain are very excited!

In the letter, our students introduced themselves, talked about the area where they live and their personal interests. This week our Year 8s received their own letters from the girls in Valencia and were thrilled to read them in class!

We are looking into the possibilities of more activities online as we build the relationship between the two schools. We are also very excited to meet our new Spanish friends when we travel to Valencia in the second half of term for our Year 8 Spanish trip!

Our Junior School Spanish Club (Years 5 and 6) has also just started a bilingual communication project with Colegio Guadalaviar’s 5B class. The first activity was to introduce the classes to each other with a photo and a letter. Later on, among the activities, we will record a video answering some questions and finally we will have a zoom call to meet with them.

Here is the letter our NHEHS Juniors received from Spain!
