Lower School Chamber Choir Sings at Ely Cathedral for Evensong Performance

By Miss Goodsell, Director of Music

The Lower School Chamber Choir were excited to perform Evensong at Ely Cathedral together with the choristers of the cathedral.

They were led by Sarah MacDonald, Director of Girl Choristers at Ely Cathedral and Fellow and Director of Music at Selwyn College, Cambridge. The students rehearsed with Sarah and were then shown round the cathedral and learnt a little of its history.

As it was the Day of the Annunciation they performed in the Lady Chapel, an amazing smaller chapel with the most incredible acoustic. They learnt a little of how to sing with this much reverberation as it is very different from anywhere they had sung before.

We learnt about how to sing old music notation and about the history of the cathedral that we were so grateful to perform in. Thank you to the choir for having us.
