Natasha Devon Talk on Social Media and Self Esteem
Our Year 9s heard from Natasha Devon earlier this week about social media and self esteem.
Natasha shared helpful tips on how to avoid tech addiction (techniques to create ‘space’ between the urge to scroll or game for example). The writer, campaigner and broadcaster showed how algorithms are designed to fuel addiction and provided tips on how we can circumvent this (always search for content fresh and do not rely on what the algorithm suggests you engage with next), encouraging everyone to be mindful about who they follow and engage with: her top tip was to think about how the content is making you feel, with a message to seek out inspiring, positive, stimulating, entertaining and diverse role models.
Natasha’s new book ‘Clicks’ will be coming out in Spring.
