National Poetry Day with Daljit Nagra
To celebrate National Poetry Day on 1st October, we were delighted to welcome celebrated poet Daljit Nagra for a GCSE poetry workshop with Year 10 pupils who were joined by pupils from our partnership schools.
With his poetry studied across the country at GCSE and A-Level, Daljit offered pupils a unique opportunity to explore his creative process and for them to develop their own writing. It was an inspiring day of poetry, creativity and collaboration.
To further celebrate National Poetry Day, our Years 7 to 9 and staff wrote poems on the theme of ‘home’, which were displayed in the atrium this week and certainly gave pupils pause for thought as they were perused during break and lunch times. Thanks to Uma in Year 7, and Sophia and Ria in Year 9, who shared their poems with us at assembly this week.
