"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Neurodiversity Week 2025: In My Shoes

NHEHS is an inclusive setting that is proud to promote awareness and continue to educate and inform our school community to understand and celebrate neurodiversity.

This week we celebrated Neurodiversity Week with the theme of ‘In My Shoes,’ which was chosen by our Neurodiversity Committee.

To launch the week, we invited Mazza’s Place as our guest speaker to launch the week with an assembly on ‘A Day in the Life of a Neurodiverse Person’. Mazza is a highly experienced psychotherapist who specialises in supporting neurodiverse young people and her daughter, Lottie is neurodiverse specialist teacher/SENDCo who has a wealth of experience in supporting young people.

Tuesday 18th March was ‘Shoesday Tuesday’ when we invited students to wear their own (flat!) shoes for the day. The girls designed their own shoes hat best reflected themselves during Formtime. These were then displayed in the atrium over the week  and judged by Dr Pearce.

On Wednesday we enjoyed a ‘Stop, Drop & Doodle’ day. In Formtime, students created their own individual doodles which formed the surface of our giant neurodiverse brain which was also on display in the atrium.

On Friday we ended the week with a Charity Bakesale in break time in aid of the Autism Cafe and Year 7 enjoyed a fun dance lesson in place of their usual PE lesson.

Many thanks to our Neurodiversity Committee and Mrs Hall for a great week of activities!
