NHEHS Annual Sports Awards 2026

By Ella C, Year 10

On Friday the 1st of May, Notting Hill and Ealing held its annual sports awards dinner! It was an amazing evening as always. This year the guest speaker really made the event even more memorable. We were lucky enough to have Sonia Mkoloma share really inspiring insights on her time on and off the netball court. Not only is Sonia an ex-England player she is also the England Netball assistant head coach, the coach of Birmingham Panthers NSL team and a judge of the Gladiators!

One message that really resonated and stood out to us was that even if you’re not a starting player and on the bench instead, take the opportunity to watch the players in your position and use it as a learning opportunity. Furthermore, when your time has come to take to the court use this opportunity to give absolutely everything you have!

We then had chicken burgers and the much-anticipated pot of sweets, while also making the most of the 360 video booth and photo booth that were on offer in the lower atrium.

Once everyone had finished dinner, we gathered back into the hall for the awards. It was wonderful to celebrate so many students and their achievements from the past year, from honours awards of those who represented their sport at a national level, to a variety of rising stars and players of the year.

We ended off the evening with the lucky draws – a highlight for many in the audience waiting to see if their name gets called out to choose one of the many fantastic items that were donated by athletes and local companies.

Once again, a wonderful evening filled with celebrating so many wonderful athletes and their achievements.
