Launch of the NHEHS/Harrow Symposium 2025
This week saw the launch of the 2025 NHEHS/Harrow Symposium for Year 12/Lower Sixth. The symposium offers students a unique opportunity to engage with university-level material and explore niche areas of their academic interests. NHEHS students collaborate with peers from Harrow, guided by subject experts, to craft compelling arguments and develop critical thinking skills. This experience is invaluable for university applications and interviews, as it demonstrates academic dedication and intellectual curiosity.
This year’s theme is “Truth,” with students exploring complex questions related to the nature of truth, guided by university tutors and industry professionals. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, students will pool their knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of the subject.
Beyond research, students can also gain hands-on experience by contributing to the event’s publication. Roles such as photographers, videographers, artists, and event managers will allow students to develop transferable skills and gain valuable work experience.
At the launch on March 4th, teams met up for the first time to start planning and researching their topics. This will be followed up with an informal meetup at NHEHS to continue discussions and progress before the deadline for submitting their 1500 word articles. There will be final presentations at the Royal Society, followed by a formal dinner on May 21st.
