"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. NHEHS Junior School wins ‘Best City Prep’

Notting Hill & Ealing Junior School has just won ‘Best City Prep’ in The Week’s Independent Schools’ Guide: Best of the Best Preps round up.

“We are delighted to win this award, which recognises how we make the most of our London location to connect with leading institutions and visit iconic landmarks, venues and events. Engaging in the city around us broadens students’ perspectives through immersive learning experiences, leadership opportunities and an outstanding co-curricular provision,” says Head of Junior School, Ms Kate Bevan.

Judges said: “This west London girls’ school maximises its city location. It celebrated its 150th anniversary last year with a number of events, including a concert at Cadogan Hall with the choir premiering Kerry Andrew’s commissioned piece ‘Shooting Stars’. Pupils explored London with trips on the Thames, visits to Hampton Court and The Globe…, a ladies’ cricket tournament, a school councillors’ visit to the Houses of Parliament and a choral performance at the Royal Albert Hall… NHEHS is truly immersed in London’s many opportunities.

The judges also recognised the excellent partnerships with local city primaries as the school hosted numerous workshops, including Science Boffins and the school’s first Eco Summit. NHEHS also held a Women in Tech workshop and a ‘Building the Future’ careers panel with female architects for Years 5 and 6.

The school was also announced as runner up in the ‘Best Green Initiatives’ award category for their new sustainability strategy and proactive approach to empowering pupils to make positive change.

After a record-breaking number of entries, winners were announced in The Week’s annual guide to the UK’s top prep schools, published in the Spring/Summer 2025 issue. The panel of judges included education experts, teachers, parents and pupils.
