"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS Musician of the Year 2025

By Miss Goodsell, Director of Music

There were fantastic performances at this year’s Musician of the Year competition held in the Recital Hall on Monday 27th January.

From heats earlier in the day, it was evident that the evening would be hotly contested. Judging the competition was conductor, composer, singer and producer, Ben Parry. Previously Artistic Director and Principal conductor of the National Youth Choir and Director of Music at St Paul’s School, Ben is now Director of Music of the professional Choir London Voices.

In the Junior Category (Years 7-9), there was an array of styles on show. Nalini opened with Einaudi, then we were treated to some jazz by Alice and Martha before the category finished with some emphatic Chopin played by Emma.

The Senior Category (Years 10-13) is always an impressive event and tonight was no exception. Kyra opened with a beautiful piece on the harp, Matilda sung Schumann and we were treated to a Marimba concerto played by Emma. The category ended with three impressive piano performances from Katerina, Georgia and Giuliana.
