NHEHS Teachers & Parents Take on Ealing Half Marathon 2024 for The Log Cabin

Four of our amazing teachers and several of our wonderful parents are going to be running in the Ealing Half Marathon (EHM) this Sunday, 29th September to fundraise for The Log Cabin. This is the sixth year we have been supporting the charity through the event as we have had a parent-staff team running in the event since 2018. This year the race takes place on September 29th.

This year, our teachers include Mrs Johnson, Mrs Goodall, Mr Gallagher and Mr Lawrence.

We asked Mrs Johnson about the challenge ahead!

Why do you love running/what made you want to run?

It is a great way to keep fit and clear your head at the same time. It’s also fun to run with others at Parkrun and as part of the training for the EHM.

How has training gone?

OK, but I always wish I had done more!

What are you looking forward to / a bit nervous about?

It’s so lovely to see so many encouraging people along the route. It really helps me to keep going. I am always nervous about managing to finish it though.

What are you looking forward to afterwards?!

Not having to train in the rain or the dark!

How can we support you and the Log Cabin on the day?

Cheering on the team and supporting through the Just Giving link. The Log Cabin is an excellent local charity who run a fantastic provision for children with additional needs and we have really enjoyed working with the staff and children of the Log Cabin over the last few years.

Hear from Mr Gallagher who will be running and Mr Shoults, who will be cheering our team on, below on our Instagram.

The Ealing Half Marathon is one of the community’s biggest events and is west London’s only fully road closed half marathon. The Log Cabin is a charity based in Northfields providing after school care and activities for children with additional needs. Each year at NHEHS our Year 10 students organise an annual party for the children from The Log Cabin so it is a cause close to our heart. Since 2018 we have raised over £20,000 for The Log Cabin from our EHM fundraising, however, recent years have been particularly challenging for the Log Cabin and they have been unable to carry out many of their normal fundraising activities. We hope that sponsorship raised through our participation in the EHM will provide much needed funds.

We are also holding an sports activewear day at both senior and junior schools on Friday 27th where pupils can come dressed in their own sports clothes in exchange for a donation to the charity.

Look out for our white and blue t-shirts on the day and give us all a big cheer!

Please support our fundraising via our Just Giving page. Thank you!
