“No-one has it all figured out at our age, and that’s OK” – Inspiring Stories at 2025 Careers Fair

By Kwanitah JP, Year 10 Journalist Lead

This week saw the Biennial NHEHS Careers Fair, organised with huge support from our Parents’ Guild and the local community. Over 80 advisors from a variety of business sectors turned out to give careers advice to girls from Year 9 to Year 13.  Here’s what Year 10 Kwanitah took from the evening:

The hall was buzzing with energy as professionals from all kinds of industries set up their stalls, ready to share their stories. Some were parents, others were people who had taken surprising career paths, and all of them had one thing in common: they were genuinely passionate about what they do. And that’s the thing that stood out the most—not just the job titles or the industries, but the stories.

When you’re in school, it can sometimes feel like there are only a handful of paths to choose from—doctor, lawyer, teacher, businessperson—but the careers fair proved that the world of work is so much bigger than that. It was inspiring to meet people who had combined their passions in unexpected ways, turning their love for technology, storytelling, problem-solving, or even video games into real, exciting careers.

And the best part? The reassurance that no one has it all figured out at our age. Almost all of the visitors admitted that their careers didn’t unfold exactly as planned, and that’s okay. It was a reminder that we don’t have to have all the answers right now—what matters is staying curious, trying new things, and being open to opportunities when they come our way.

By the end of the day, the careers fair wasn’t just a collection of stalls and brochures—it was a glimpse into the future, a reminder that the world is full of possibilities, and that whatever path we choose, it can lead to something exciting.
