Outstanding A Level Results and Exciting Next Steps for Class of 2026
Many congratulations to our A-level class of 2026 who are celebrating today an impressive set of A Level results, with 22% of entries awarded A*, 64% achieving A* or A, and 90% achieving A* to B.
Nearly half the cohort received AAA or better and 45% of our students achieved at least one A* grade, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to academic achievement and individual success.
Commenting on this year’s outcomes, Mrs Saunders, said:
“These outstanding results reflect the hard work, intellectual curiosity, and perseverance of our students, as well as the tireless commitment of our dedicated staff. The results are also a testament to the school’s teaching and learning culture, which prizes inspiration and love of learning. This cohort has impressed me so much with their passion, creativity, and collaborative spirit, and it is a real joy to celebrate their success today. In a national picture where institutions offer fewer subjects, it is so pleasing that our students have done well across such a wide range of subjects. As they prepare to embark on a wide range of university courses and begin their journeys beyond school, I am in no doubt that they will go on to achieve great things. We are all incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished”.
The breadth of subjects chosen by our students reflects the diversity of their interests and ambitions, which include Medicine, Liberal Arts, Biomedical Engineering, International Development, Neuroscience and Psychology, Performance Design, Law with German Law, and Linguistics. Our most popular university destinations include Durham, Imperial, UCL, Leeds, Newcastle, Bristol, Oxford and Cambridge.
Students commented on the personalised guidance and bespoke support that they receive in the NHEHS Sixth Form. Head Girl, Olivia Fanthorpe-Collings said:
“Receiving my A Level results feels like such a significant moment after so many years at NHEHS. I’m incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received from my teachers, particularly during the UCAS process, but also for everything that has happened outside the classroom. NHEHS has given me the confidence to pursue Biomedical Engineering, and I’m really excited to take the next step at Sheffield”.
Our top-performing departments this year were Art and Design, Ancient Greek and Mandarin with 100% of students receiving A*s. Other standout subjects included Further Maths, Drama, Latin, Spanish and Religious Studies (Philosophy and Ethics) which achieved 100% A* and A grades. 78% of pupils taking Classical or Modern languages achieved A* or A grades. In Economics, a subject rapidly growing in popularity pupils also achieved 78% A* and A grades and there were 79% A* and A grades in History.
The School’s strong reputation in STEM subjects continues with 28% gaining A* grades and 60% gaining A* and A grades. Biology has tripled the number of A*s it received with nearly a third of pupils achieving the top grade.
