"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Overseas Trips are Back!

Overseas trips are back with a buzz this term! Over half term students are looking forward to two trips – returning to Devon for the Arvon Creative Writing Retreat and Barbados for our Barbados Sports Tour.

The Arvon Creating Writing Retreat sees our Years 7-10 students return to Totleigh Barton16th-century manor house in one of the most peaceful and idyllic parts of Devon. Students will spend five days living together in a beautiful location, immersed in writing and creativity, tutored by two published writers along with a guest writer who visits midweek. There will be a mixture of group workshops, individual tutorials and time and space for students to develop their own work. The centre aims to provide the perfect environment for imagination to thrive and for writing and language skills to improve. Students are also encouraged to bring examples of their previous work with them.  Groups produce an anthology of their work by the end of the week and read their best work to each other on the final night.

In Barbados our senior Hockey, Netball and Swimming Squads will be able to train as a team and experience the different culture that this Island has to offer. The tour will involve four hockey and four netball matches and various training sessions. The swimmers will have daily training sessions, including dry side sessions, and finish with a competitive gala at the end of the tour. There will also be an island 4×4 jeep safari, a catamaran cruise where girls can swim with wild turtles, and the PE department are also planning some extra activities like a Halloween film night (with costumes!) and a Volleyball tournament!

Looking further ahead, our German students will be heading to the Berlin Christmas markets in December.
