Parents’ Guild Careers Workshops for Year 12
By Shaaruja S, Year 12
On Tuesday 5th May, Year 12 students spent the morning developing valuable career skills through sessions on CV writing, networking, and interviews.
The CV workshop focused on how to create strong, professional CVs tailored to specific careers, as well as exploring the role of AI in the application process. During the networking sessions, students learned the importance of building connections and seeking work experience opportunities through becoming more confident when reaching out to others.
The mock interviews were undoubtedly the highlight of the morning. Students, working in pairs, were interviewed by a range of external professionals, giving us the chance to experience realistic interview situations. These interviews helped us recognise the different skills and qualities we each have to offer. The interviewers were incredibly supportive and provided helpful guidance throughout the process. Many students described the sessions as both enjoyable and genuinely helpful, providing valuable insight into the skills needed for successful careers.
A huge thank you to the Parents’ Guild for providing us with such an informative experience!
