"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. Penultimate BUDS Session for Local Primary School Pupils

Last weekend saw the penultimate session of our BUDS programme for over 50 Year 5 students from nine local primary schools.

BUDS is our Saturday enrichment programme aimed at Building Understanding, Developing Skills in gifted and talented Year 5s at Christ the Saviour C of E Primary, Selborne Primary, Montpelier, North Ealing Primary, Little Ealing Primary, Green Dragon Primary, Stanhope Primary, Blair Peach Primary and St Vincent’s Primary Acton schools.

Our enthusiastic Year 5 pupils from took part in three sessions, building on their work from last month.

STEM: Stomp Rockets

How does changing the shape of the fins of a rocket change its flight path? What can we learn from planes and space shuttles? Students investigated the answers through fun practical experiments.

Public speaking: Finalising Speeches

The children brought together everything they have learned so far in the sessions. They also wrote and practised a two minute speech on a topic of their choice to present to their peers and parents in the last session!

Creative thinking: Filming

This week the Year 5s began to start filming their projects. Working in small groups and led by the Sixth Form helpers, the children found the best locations to film their work.

The final session will take place on Saturday 6th July where parents will be invited to the school for student presentations and awards of certificates.

A big thank you to Mr Fernando for organising, Ms Vanini, Mr Rosolen and Ms Absoud for running the sessions, Mr Coxhill (estates) and our fantastic Year 12s for coordinating the groups and just being brilliant ambassadors of our School – Amara, Amelia, Anjali, Nirupama, Olivia, Priya and Tehreem.
