Senior School Production 2024: Daisy Pulls It Off

Last week, the hilarious and heart-warming Senior School production of ‘Daisy Pulls It Off’, brought the house down!

Harking back to a nostalgic era of classic girls’ school stories told by writers such as Angela Brazil and Enid Blyton, the topping adventure by Denise Deegan was set in an exclusive all-girls’ boarding school in 1927. Daisy Meredith, an exceptionally talented scholarship student from humble beginnings, searches for acceptance whilst finding the long-lost school treasure of the Beaumont Family with her best friend Trixie Martin.

The play was packed with fun on every night of the three performances, with Mr Shoults even joining in to accompany on piano on the opening night – the last senior school production under his headship.

Stanzi C-L from Year 13, who played Daisy, said, “As this is my last show, ‘Daisy Pulls It Off’ is a bittersweet goodbye to a company that’s been like a second family to me. I’m immensely grateful for the countless hours,memories and friendships made along the way. I’m so proud to be part of this production and so grateful to everyone who’s helped bring Daisy’s adventures to life.”

Zara S, also Year 13 who played Sybil called the production “an adorable cheerful show that has been a delight to be part of.”

Head of Sound, Liv H (Year 13) shared how she had enjoyed “learning more about the inner workings of being a sound engineer and teaching the younger students about it.”

Ms Archer, Director of Drama wrote in the programme, “Whilst the play gently and affectionately mocks old-school girls’ education, it also reminds me how special a school experience can be, and how all of our cast and crew, when their time comes to leave NHEHS will have special memories of school productions,times on the playing field, musical performances, dynamic clubs and trips and memorable teachers and lessons – something that NHEHS provide in abundance and with generosity, as well as being a school which supports girls very much like Daisy Meredith through our bursary fund.”

A huge thank you to the front of house and huge backstage crew, our drama department (Ms Archer, Ms Morley and Ms Smith), Mr Head, Miss Cagnino, Miss Lindsay, the Events, Marketing, Site Teams and Senior Academic staff for supporting the production.
