The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Scheme is a programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities designed to aid the development of young people. There are three levels of award: Bronze, Silver and Gold, which we offer to students in Year 10, 11 and 12-13 respectively. The programme is a nationally recognised voluntary award scheme which equips students with life skills to help them at school and beyond.
DofE Requirements
To complete the Award each student must complete a personal programme of activities in four areas: volunteering in the local community, pursue a skill or hobby and take part in physical recreation. They are also required to plan, train for and complete a self-sufficient expedition camping in tents – which tend to be in beautiful areas of the UK.
Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community.
Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities.
Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests.
Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad.
In addition, for the Gold award, students must complete a residential activity.
