On the 24th of January, we as a Sixth Form were fortunate enough to have Amanda Davies speak in one of our weekly lecture slots. Amanda Davies is a sports anchor and journalist at CNN international who was previously awarded sports broadcast journalist of the year. She was able to tell us about her journey as a sports journalist, starting off as a runner at sky sport and how she ended up at CNN international. She further discussed her work with Afghanistan’s women’s national football team, showing the heartbreaking journey their families went through and Ukraine sport amidst the war. Finally by talking about some more recent news where she visited the Milan winter Olympics and briefly spoke about “The helmet of remembrance.”
