Sophia & Hattie Place Second in The Fleming Collection Young People’s Art Competition 2021
Our Art Department were thrilled to hear the news this summer that two of our artists, Hattie C (Year 7) and Sophia P (Year 8) had been awarded joint second prizes in The Fleming Collection Young People’s Art Competition 2021!
This was the second annual summer art competition for students aged 11-15 run by the Fleming Collection, considered to be one of the finest collection of Scottish art outside public institutions.
This year entrants were challenged to create a painting, drawing, sculpture, assemblage, photograph or even performance that draws from one of the hundreds of artworks in The Fleming Collection. Hattie’s art (left) was inspired by John Duncan, with Sophia taking her inspiration from Phoebe Anne Traquair (pictured on the right).
Both girls’ artwork has featured on The Fleming Collection’s website and media and both Hattie and Sophia will receive a copy of the Fleming Collection publication “A History of Scottish Art” for future inspiration!
Congratulations to Hattie and Sophia!
