Splendid Drama Workshop for Year 7
By Esha M, Year 7
Last Tuesday, Year 7 had the chance to take part in an exciting drama workshop with Splendid Theatre. The session was all about using our bodies to express emotions and tell stories in a more physical way. Instead of speaking, we focused on movement – experimenting with different ways to show feelings and ideas just through how we moved. One of the most fun activities was acting out different types of weather. Some of us moved fast and sharp like a storm, while others flowed like a gentle breeze or stood still, heavy and warm, like the sun on a hot day. It really made us think about how much can be told without using any words at all.
At first, some of us weren’t sure about acting in such a different way, but as the session went on, we became more confident. It made us realise how important body language is in acting and how it can completely change a performance.
A Year 7 student said: “At first, I felt a bit awkward acting without speaking, but by the end, I realised how powerful movement can be.”
The workshop was a great experience – fun, unique, and helped boost our confidence. We’d love to do something like this again!
