Staff and Students Raise Money for Comic Relief Through All Day Rowathon
Last Friday, a fantastic day of rowing took place in the lower atrium from 7:45am and carried on during various parts of the school day until just past 4:30pm, with some of the Sixth Form teachers and students ending off the event.
Although Miss Newman may have overestimated the goal (of rowing the length of the UK) for the Rowathon (by a thousand kms!), everyone had a wonderful time pushing themselves during their five minute row. Our top staff rowers were Dr Pearce with 1300m and Mr Gregor and Mr Coxhill with 1292m, while the top student rowers were sixth formers Caterina V with 1295m and Zoe D with 1228m.
We also ran a competition where students and staff guessed how many sweets were in the jar, and the closest guess to the actual total won the jar of sweets. With a very good guess by Miss Dunkley and Miss Millns, Ella C in Year 9 guessed the closest total by one number. It was a fantastic day filled with lots of music, cheering on others, staff finding five minutes to out-row some of the students and overall having a good time for charity. A grand total of £135 was raised and 148.32km was rowed during the day.
