Students Celebrate Excellent A Level Results 2024
Our A Level students took centre stage today to receive their grades, celebrating an excellent set of results, with 26% of entries graded at A*, 68% graded A* or A, and 94% A* to B.
Five students gained all A* grades. From a cohort of 68, 30 students achieved at least one A* result and 28 received AAA or better. Our excellent results saw us come seventh in The Times league table of top UK schools for A Level results.
Overall, 84% of our students secured their first choice of university, with 81% securing a place at a Russell Group, UK Top 10 or world-leading international university. The most popular destinations this year are Bristol, Bath, Newcastle, Durham and Edinburgh. We also have students going to study Maths and Law at Oxford, English at Cambridge, Engineering at the University of Michigan, English and History at Trinity College Dublin, and Politics and International Studies at the University of Melbourne.
Our students will be studying a rich variety of subjects, including Medicine, Psychology, Environmental Geography, Artificial Intelligence, Anthropology, Mechanical Engineering, English, History of Art, Liberal Arts and Fashion Design. Plus one student has been awarded an apprenticeship at PWC.
Commenting on this year’s outcomes, Mr Shoults, Headmaster said: “These results are testament to the industry and enthusiasm of our students, and the support and inspiration of their teachers. I’m delighted to see the range of courses our students are going on to study.”
Head Girl, Lewhat Y, who will be heading to Durham to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics said: “NHEHS has been so supportive throughout the whole of my A Levels and especially during the university application process. I’m very grateful for all the support.”
Some of our students have achieved outstanding results while excelling outside the classroom. Ansley V represented GB as part of a rowing foursome in Poland during her A Level exam period and is now in the GB squad currently training in Canada for the World Rowing Championships. She’ll be heading to University of Michigan to major in Engineering, meanwhile Natasha R achieved A*A*A whilst acting in the BBC TV production of Malory Towers and is off to study English at UCL.
