Summer Concert Celebrates Musical Talents from Year 6 to Sixth Form

This year’s Summer Concert was a true celebration of musical collaboration and student achievement.
A particular highlight was seeing five of our Year 6 students join the Symphony Orchestra for the very first time. After a term of committed rehearsals, they made their Senior debut performing Bizet’s lively and energetic ‘Farandole’ — a proud moment for both the students and their families.
The concert also marked an important milestone for our Music Scholars in Years 10 to 12, who made their debut as conductors. Each scholar spent the Summer Term working closely with one of our ensembles, combining weekly lessons with invaluable guidance from a professional conductor. Monday evening was their opportunity to put everything they have learnt into practice, and they did so with impressive maturity and confidence.
The evening featured a variety of ensembles, each delivering memorable performances. The Percussion Ensemble delighted the audience with their rendition of ‘Bundle of Joy’ from the animated film Inside Out, while the Bassoon Ensemble brought smiles with their playful interpretation of the sea shanty ‘Wellerman’. The Jazz Band’s smooth performance of the classic ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ was another standout moment.
The concert came to a brilliant close with a performance by the student-led Year 10 Band, who delivered a confident and crowd-pleasing rendition of ‘Hotel California.’
