"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

The Franklin – Bumper Edition for Science Week!

We are excited to announce the fifth edition of The Franklin – our science department’s publication. And what a bumper edition it is too!

This Spring 2022 newsletter coincides with NHEHS Science Week and covers discussions and topics ranging from the possibilities of time travel, what is consciousness, to Earth’s Artificial Moon and will AI conquer the world? In our Sixth Form section, Biology students shared their thoughts on the work of Watson and Crick and their discoveries with DNA. Our editors also spoke to students from different year groups to find out what they have been up to in science recently, including Year 9s on CREST Club, our Sixth Formers on the UK Space Design Competition and the Imperial Engineering Project, plus an interview with Isobel T and Maya S who have both received offers from Cambridge University for Medicine.

Published three times a year, The Franklin gives girls a chance to research and produce an academically rigorous piece of writing about an aspect of science they find fascinating and is open to contributions from anyone between Year 7 and Year 10.

This edition of The Franklin was edited by Sylvie R and Aditi A, illustrated by Sophie A, with photography by Shivani P, Eva H, Shreya G, Alexia S, Noushi H, Johanna K and Lexie S, and Ms Brown as Editor-in-Chief.
