These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Transforming Futures with the Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation

Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation Story: (RNCSF) supports young people facing the most challenging circumstances from across the UK to access great educational opportunities at leading independent schools. A key focus group for the charity is looked-after and vulnerable children — young people who may be in foster care, residential homes, or living with relatives due to a breakdown in family support. These students often face significant risks to their wellbeing and educational outcomes, making RNCSF’s mission all the more vital.

Since 2017, RNCSF has transformed the futures of more than 1,000 students through placements at over 120 independent schools nationwide.

The results speak volumes:
99% of supported pupils have achieved at least two A-levels (compared to just 35% of disadvantaged pupils nationally)
On average, pupils gained two grades higher per GCSE
89% now believe in their ability to succeed in life

SpringBoard students receive wraparound support before, during, and beyond their school placements, helping them make the most of their opportunities and overcome barriers along the way.

By 2027, RNCSF aims to support 2,000 young people to access independent education, shape their futures, inspire their peers, and become powerful role models within their communities.

We at NHEHS are proud to have been among the first cohort of day schools nationwide to offer a SpringBoard student a place, beginning in 2023. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to equity, opportunity, and the transformative power of education.
