Verbatim drama workshop with Paperbirds Theatre Company
The Drama Department had the pleasure of welcoming the celebrated verbatim theatre company The Paperbirds on Wednesday 30th September for an engaging and inspiring devising workshop with Year 10 GCSE Drama pupils and Year 12 A-Level Drama and Theatre pupils.
Over the course of two hours, the girls explored a variety of verbatim techniques for developing social and political characters. Using their own dialogue as a stimulus to explore thoughts surrounding AI and the modern world, they drew on both naturalistic and non-naturalistic styles, alongside physical movement sequences. Working in both the drama studio and the main hall with workshop leaders Camila Robertson and Flo O’Mahony, the girls collaborated on dynamic performance pieces, providing rich inspiration as they develop their own creative voices in devising later this year and next. The standard of collaboration and ensemble work across the two year groups was a joy to witness, standing as a testament to the true spirit of NHEHS and the girls’ artistic talent.
