Weekly Sports Update October 20th 2023

It’s been a busy and successful end to autumn half term for the PE department. Highlights include a wonderful effort for the ski team at the British Schools Indoor Ski Competition, the U18, U16 and U15 netball teams qualifying for the Middlesex Schools Finals and the second placing for the Junior and Inter cross country teams at County round, so qualifying for Regional Round of English Schools Cross Country in November. The U14 hockey team won the county competition and have qualified for the regions final while the U14 water polo team won the first round of the London water polo league. Emily C (Year 7) represented Middlesex in the U12 Tennis County Cup National Finals and helped her team finish in 3rd place, while Nishka P & Suhana C have been selected for U13 Middlesex cricket performance squad.

Hockey

Our U14A team took on The John Lyon School for Boys in an away fixture on 9th October and took the win 9-0 (MVP Ella). Our 1st XI lots narrowly 1-0 to St Benedict’s and 0-4 to Bancroft’s (MVPs Sephera F, Anna W) in the U18 London county tournament. Our U14A team played in their county competition and won through to London regional finals.  The U13A team lost narrowly 1-2 to Latymer Upper on October 12th (MVP Andrea B) with the B team also losing,while both U13A and B teams both lost away at Godolphin & Latymer on October 4th (A team MVP Jess E, B team MVP Isla K).

Swimming

Our U12 and U13 A swimming teams competed against Francis Holland School, Regent’s Park and Godolphin & Latymer School in a swimming gala here at NHEHS on 2nd October with both teams winning their competitions.

Netball

Our U18A team lost at home to Latymer Upper 13-23 with MVPs Bea G and Gen P on October 2nd. We also hosted South Hampstead High School on 3rd October for an U14 fixture. Our A team won 28-24 (MVP Lily H), B team 14-9 (MVP Emma W), C team 8-7 (MVP Ottilie O) and D team drew 2-2 (MVP Alishba A). St Paul’s hosted our U12 A-F teams on October 3rd and took wins in 6 matches. NHEHS’ MVPs were Cecily H (A), Emily G (C ), Yumie P (D), Lucy H (E) and Samara A-J (F). Our U18A and B teams won 21-12 and 9-6 respectively at home to Twyford CofE High School on 9th October. Our U13A team lost 36-41 away to Godolphin & Latymer in the School Sport Magazine Cup round 2, with our U15A team also losing in the same competition to G&L (24-45). The U14B team won 20-11 away at St Benedict’s (MVP Rakhi G) on 10th October and the C team also winning 24-0 on the same day. Our U12A team beat  Twyford CofE High School 9-3 in a friendly (MVP Alex O’D). Our U14A netballers had a fantastic day at the GDST Rally on 10th October, finishing second to Putney High in the final!

Cross Country

It was a highly successful Ealing Borough Schools Championships for our team as we retained our title as Ealing Borough School Cross Country Champions!, with several podium and top ten placings. Our Junior and Intermediate teams also qualified for the ESAA Regional Cross Country Championships in St Alban’s next month by placing second in the Middlesex County round held at Harrow School. Football

Our U15A team were awarded a W/o in the first round of the ISFA competition, while our U13A and U12A teams won 6-2 and 5-0 respectively in 7 a-side matches away at Godolphin & Latymer on 6th October.

Water polo

On October 10th three other schools came to NHEHS to play, with our U14 team victorious against Highgate, Bedford Modern & North London Collegiate.
