Earlier this month our Year 3 and 4 choir walked down to St Barnabas’ Church to sing for some of the older people who go to Church on Thursdays there.

The group gather together over a cup of tea to talk and socialise as part of their ‘Memory Lane café.’

Studies have shown that listening to music from years ago can help retrieve stored memories to spark a recollection. Our Choir sang a variety of popular English Classics for 20 minutes, including ’Let’s go Fly a Kite’ from Mary Poppins and ‘Edelweiss’ from the Sound of Music. Mr Sole also sang a Scottish Folk Classic – ‘The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen.’

Our 40 strong audience were delighted and our Juniors really enjoyed singing!

Such was the success of the event that we are hoping to repeat it on a termly basis.
