Year 10 Attend Inspiring Talk by Feminist Writer Laura Bates

As part of our PSHCEE curriculum, our Year 10 pupils travelled to South Hampstead High School on 18 September to attend a fascinating talk by Laura Bates, founder of the Everyday Sexism Project and author of the new book The New Age of Sexism: How the AI Revolution is Reinventing Misogyny.

We were delighted to be one of several London GDST schools invited to hear Laura speak about the intersection of technology and gender equality. Drawing on her experience as a writer and activist, Laura explored how the rise of social media and artificial intelligence has created new challenges and opportunities for advancing equality.

She encouraged pupils to think critically about the digital world and to use their voices to drive positive change, sharing her own journey in challenging sexism and gender stereotypes on a global scale.

Her message to pupils was powerful: “Be brave… Get curious… Read books – fiction and otherwise – that deal with gendered issues. Start conversations and call things out. Arm yourself with knowledge. Our voices are the most powerful when made together. There is so much hope for the future.”

Thank you to South Hampstead and the GDST for inviting us. We left feeling motivated to continue the conversation about equality and empowerment.
