Year 10 Drama students at NHEHS are looking forward to attending a performance of Little Brother at the Jermyn Street Theatre next week — a poignant and powerful play based on the true story of Ibrahima Balde, a young man from Guinea whose extraordinary journey across continents sheds light on the harrowing realities faced by many displaced people around the world.

In advance of their theatre visit, students were delighted to hear from NHEHS alumna, Natasha Ketel (Class of 2019), Marketing Manager at Jermyn Street Theatre, who visited school to provide insight into the moving narrative that underpins the play. Natasha spoke about Ibrahima’s story — a tale of courage, love, and sacrifice — and how it has been powerfully adapted for the stage from his award-winning memoir which recounts his search for his younger brother who disappeared on the dangerous route to Europe.

As well as an invaluable insight into the play, Natasha also discussed her own career in the fascinating world of theatre production which she entered in 2023 after graduating from Durham University with a First Class Honours degree in English Literature. As well as working at the Jermyn Street Theatre, Natasha is also a Deputy Producer on a freelance basis for Ellie Steel Productions and The Women’s Prize for Playwriting.
